Nestled between….whatever…..at the Inauguration

This will be my only snarky comment section, and it’s not snarkiness about our new leader, but the triteness of the media. Even on Inauguration Day, the media is spouting cliches left and right (that’s my own contribution).

I just heard “nestled…” Long story about that, I’ll find it and link later, but enjoy this ongoing list of today’s cliches.

I have things to say, but for now, I have work to do.

++++++++++++++++++++++

An hour or so later….I got some of the work done that was needed, and then found a good excuse to lay off until the delivery men call. (Waiting on a bunch of new appliances, and as soon as they call, I have to dash out and meet them.) I really intended on painting some rooms, because they’re going to call between 1 and 5. I’m not sure why I didn’t give them my cell number; probably because I never use it and never even turn it on. I only keep it in case of emergency on the road.

So, I got some lunch and sat down and watched the inauguration instead of listening on the radio, which was the plan. But alas, I’ve had enough of Katie Couric and her inspid ways. This news guy on the radio is more interesting, plus I’m still recording on the DVR should I wish to review later.

It was all good, and I especially liked the poem. Very moving, very precise words. When language is well done, I am appreciative. I also thought that Warren guy’s prayer was lovely, and the prayer of the other guy. Michelle’s dress was GORGEOUS. Loved it.

Now the bad….I swear if I hear Katie Couric say the following phrase ten more times, I’m pulling an Archie Bunker (mock hanging): “Do you think - insert name here - ever imagined seeing this in his/her lifetime?”

Good Christ! And there were so many more trite Katie moments. I’m sure she wasn’t the only person of banality, but she’s the one I happened to watch.

p.s. to Katie Couric and the other news people: I could hear YOUR WHISPERS. Next time, write notes. It was rude and kind of pissed me off. At this point, this poor creature has such ZERO credibility she might as well put on a top hat and a bunny outfit and tap dance to the news.
