Wal Mart continues its “All China, All the Time” program
In its ongoing quest to make Sam Walton roll over in his grave, Wal Mart has announced it will add a number of drugs to its program of “Let’s give cheap drugs to the American people and pretend we give a crap.”
Remember when Wal Marts first steamrolled across America? There were signs that said everything there was made in the USA.
Unfortunately, many of these newly-added prescription drugs are made in China, according to an investigation by KMOV.com.
Personally, I’m not against free will. If people want to buy Chinese-manufactured drugs, good for them. I’m on a personal campaign to try and NOT buy anything made in China. I have nothing against the Chinese people. They work hard for their dime a day salaries, and political prisoners sacrifice their bodies so Americans can pretend they’re all scientific and view plasticized dead people at these creepy anatomy shows. “Oooh, I went to the body show, I’m scientific!” (How about taking an anatomy class and literally digging into a real body? I’ve done it and it’s gross as hell. But at least those folks on the slabs truly DID voluntarily donate their bodies to science.)
I’m also not anti-Wal Mart exactly. To be honest, I don’t care that much if their employees are underpaid or don’t get insurance. Guess what. A lot of Americans work for crap wages and don’t get benefits. What I don’t like is the Wal Mart experience. I don’t like the stores, I don’t like to shop there, and I’d rather give an extra fifty cents for the convenience of not having to endure the crowds when I buy a bottle of window cleaner.
But that’s just me. I’m kind of cranky - and impatient - sometimes, and I just generally don’t like to shop. Other than my teenage years when it was more of a social thing, I never really have. (FWIW, I don’t like malls, either, and haven’t been in one since the internets opened and started selling Lancome online.)
I don’t know if that’s true about Sam Walton, who started the hell that has become Wal Mart. A friend of mine worked for years at a Wal Mart, back when it *was* all “Made in USA,” and says that was his big dream and he’d be sad at what Wal Mart has become. But the dude was a businessman, so I dunno. Maybe he’d like it.
I think it’s kind of ironic that just days after this big “Drugs made in China” goes online, Wal Mart announces it’s adding more drugs to its program, and all but one of those drugs named are on The List.
